Royal Hallamshire Hospital

As part of the Royal Hallamshire hospital improvements Henry Boot Construction had to remove numerous masonry walls within the sub ground floor area to provide a number of essential operating theatres. The floor finishes varied in levels and were found to have a thick layer of resin-based membrane.

Frescrete operatives carried out diamond blocked flat-bed grinding to all floor areas (600m2) to remove all existing DPM laitance left on the concrete floor surface then vacuum clean and apply one coat of Mapei Eporip epoxy resin primer fully blinded with quartz sand which had to be left overnight to cure.

Using a high shear screed pump, operatives had to convey the mixed Mapei Ultraplan renovation screed into place having set screed bolts to correct levels. Average thickness based upon 20mm over 600m2

The levelled-out floor surface has left a smooth, dense surface ready to receive a seamless vinyl covering.
